Hugh Logan
Hugh Logan (November 23, 1834 – November 22 1903) was a Captain of the Afterguard in the Union Navy and a Medal of Honor recipient for his actions in the American Civil War. Logan joined the Navy from Boston in November 1862, and was discharged in December 1863.〔(Soldiers, Sailors and Marines in the Civil War )〕 ==Medal of Honor citation== Rank and organization: Captain of the Afterguard, U.S. Navy. On board the U.S.S. Rhode Island which was engaged in rescuing men from the stricken Monitor in Mobile Bay, on December 30, 1862. After the Monitor sprang a leak and went down, Logan courageously risked his life in a gallant attempt to rescue members of the crew.
